Nene Composition
Jan 16, 2017

Benjamin has just returned from an epic walk along the River Nene. The river, at 100 miles, is the tenth longest in the UK but the Nene Path, which Ben followed, is closer to 120. The river rises in Badby, South-west Northants, and flows into the Wash twelve miles north of Wisbech on the Lincolnshire/ Norfolk border. Benjamin walked the length of the river in 5 1 /2 consecutive days, staying in guest houses and B and B's along the way.

The purpose of the trip was to gain inspiration for a new compostion which has been commissioned by NMPAT, the Northamptonshire Musical School, where Benjamin studied as a teenager. The piece will be premiered at the Royal Albert Hall by 700 musicians and singers as part of a Junior Prom in November 2017.
